Support has been added to the StorageSwitch to provide support for the 5800, released 11/12/07 by SUN Microsystems. This new generation of object storage is enabled by the proven StorageSwitch technologies so that applications can take advantage of the 5800 using standard interfaces, and not having to recode their applications.

StorageSwitch was the first vendor to provide support for XAM (eXtensible Access Method) storage arrays in a commercial product.  The new SNIA standard - XAM - eXtensible Access Method,  opens the industry to greater capabilities for fixed content storage management.  The StorageSwitch for XAM File System Gateway enables applications using industry standard file system protocols to make use of XAM enabled storage arrays.

StorageSwitch provides both front and back-end support for XAM.

XAM Client Protocol provides the XAM protocol to your client applications, with any of our supported backends.  We have both thick and thin vims providing varying levels of functionality and intelligence to your storage clients.  Use this to enable your standards based, or proprietary object based storage with the XAM protocol.

StorageSwitch FileSystem Gateway for XAM Storage Arrays.  StorageSwitch file system protocols can now be used to easily store and retrieve data from XAM storage arrays.

The StorageSwitch VIM Stacker provides advanced functionality to other vendors 'thin-vims'.
